Many organizations have already taken the first step with ServiceNow AI by enabling Now Assist. But too often, that step, while important, is where progress stalls.
Basic configurations are in place. A few features are toggled on. Some early curiosity exists, but meaningful, sustained value? That’s where the gap begins.
At iTech AG, we recently partnered with a client in exactly this position, where Now Assist had been introduced, but not operationalized. What followed was a transformation not just in tooling, but in how development work actually gets done.
The Starting Point: Enabled, But Underutilized
The platform wasn’t broken. In fact, it looked “AI-enabled” on paper.
- Now Assist features were turned on
- Some light configuration had been completed
- Developers had awareness—but limited adoption
- Citizen development pathways were undefined
What was missing wasn’t technology. It was alignment, integration, and intent.
AI was present but not embedded into the way teams delivered value.
The Shift: From Features to Throughput
Rather than focusing on what’s enabled, we shifted the conversation to:
How do we increase throughput across both developers and citizen developers?
This meant treating Now Assist not as a feature, but as an accelerator of delivery velocity.
We aligned three key components:
1. Now Assist for Creator >>> Accelerating Development Workflows
We embedded AI directly into the developer experience, helping teams:
- Generate scripts and logic faster
- Reduce repetitive build effort
- Improve consistency across solutions
- Lower the barrier for less experienced developers
The result? Developers spent less time “figuring out how” and more time delivering outcomes.
2. App Engine Management Center >>> Creating Visibility & Control
By leveraging App Engine Management Center, we helped the organization:
- Track application demand and delivery
- Identify bottlenecks in the pipeline
- Prioritize enhancements based on impact
- Establish governance without slowing teams down
This ensured that increased speed didn’t come at the cost of structure.
3. Creator Studio >>> Unlocking Citizen Development
One of the biggest missed opportunities we see across organizations is underutilized citizen developers.
We introduced Creator Studio as a guided pathway for:
- Business users to safely build applications
- Teams to prototype ideas quickly
- Reducing dependency on core development teams
With the right guardrails in place, citizen developers became a force multiplier, not a risk.
The Outcome: A System That Fuels Innovation
Once these elements were aligned, the impact was immediate and compounding!
- Faster enhancement delivery cycles
- Increased developer confidence and output
- Expanded contribution from citizen developers
- Better alignment between business demand and technical execution
Most importantly, the organization moved from:
“We have AI features” to “We are delivering faster, smarter, and more consistently because of AI.”
Ready to move beyond features and focus on outcomes?
If your organization has started exploring Now Assist but hasn’t yet seen meaningful gains in delivery speed or innovation, you’re not alone. The difference between enabled and empowered comes down to how these capabilities are integrated, governed, and scaled.
Let’s change that.
